Labeeba Binte Shafique’s journey from Bangladesh to the United States reflects her determination, resilience, and passion for academic excellence. Born in 2001, she decided to pursue higher education in a new country, embracing the challenges and opportunities that came with it. With a strong desire to grow intellectually and personally, she began her academic path at Georgia Highlands College, where she pursued an Associate of Science Degree in General Studies. From the beginning, she was deeply committed to her studies and took an active role in campus life, making the most of every opportunity available.
Her leadership skills became evident when she joined the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and took on the role of Vice President of Chapter Events. She organized initiatives encouraging academic engagement, leadership development, and community involvement. She understood the importance of creating a supportive educational environment and used her position to motivate others to achieve their goals. Through her involvement, she fostered a sense of camaraderie among her peers, helping to build a community that valued scholarship and personal growth.
Labeeba's passion for research led her to conduct a project analyzing the acid content in carbonated beverages, an exploration that connected science with real-world concerns. Through this study, she applied scientific principles to consumer awareness, demonstrating her ability to think critically and approach problems with an analytical mindset. At Georgia Tech, she worked as a Student Caller for the Alumni Association, strengthening relationships between the university and its graduates. She also took on the role of Research Assistant at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, contributing to research on organic photovoltaic cells.
